The Vedas of Ancient India

The oldest Hindu scriptures, the Vedas, were composed in Sanskrit in northern India from roughly 1500 BCE and passed down orally for centuries before being written. Hinduism has no single founder; it grew from Vedic ritual into a family of traditions centred on ideas such as dharma, karma and rebirth.
